Is it really organic?

Over 6 years I have been on a mission to learn and heal my body from years of abuse as an athlete and a misled human. My innate intuition not only on my body but others has seen me repair my own body and guide others on the same path.

My curiosity has paid off, questioning reasoning behind being told NO, you cant, you won't, you'll never. Learning some valuable sessions along the way. We trust what "health professionals" and people with loads of letters behind their names tell us...along with the constant barrage on social media, if its on Facebook it must be true right? The truth is, YOU are the best specialist for your own body. Health professionals are only a guide.

My interest in my health and wellbeing was spiked while I was in recovery at a retreat from my life brain fart after my ex husband left. It was at this retreat where life got a whole lot more interesting and lead me on a life change into a career that I am very passionate about. Im certainly no sheep and follow the hurds. I like to know my facts when I do anything. I dont always get it right, but we all fuck up from time to time.

While going through my recovery I was diagnosed with a disorder called PMDD Premenstrual dysphoric disorder. PMS with turrets. Not pleasant I can tell you! They said the only way to control it was with Prozac? Ummmmm no thank you! They are certainly quick to drug you up these days rather than look for a healthier way to control illnesses.

I started researching ways to control the disorder. Now, I may not be the smartest human, I attend the university of life, which apparently doesn't give you any qualifications. I have researched and experimented on myself with information given to me. I dont take NO for an answer. My belief is there is always a way.

I came across an interesting article to do with plastics and chemicals and how it responds when it enters the body. I decided to remove plastics and chemicals as much as I could from my life. Guess what? PMDD is now just a mild form of PMS, some months I dont even get that. Shock horror! You mean to say there WAS another way to control the disorder away from a pharmaceutical!

After that I really started to open my eyes to my own health and wellbeing. What I could do for myself to enhance my life.

I've sat back and noticed a shift in how we as a society are eating thanks to high profile humans like Pete Evans who have become advocates for healthy eating. He gets a load of flack for speaking up. I laugh when someone that holds a degree promotes exactly the same way of eating is praised. I have much respect for Pete and his passions for a healthier way of life. Regardless of who promotes it, the good thing is people are starting to take notice and change what they put on and put in their bodies.

Like any fad, Marketing companies jump on board and start to mislead us as consumers with how food and products are labelled.

We have seen it with the Heart Foundation tick of approval. Biggest scam. Those products were full of that much crap that helped increase the risk of heart disease.

Then there was the "Natural" products.....Hmmmmm some of those natural ingredients again, questionable.

NOW..... its ORGANIC that is under fire.

Like in the article in the link earlier, it says to use organic as much as you can. So as consumers we listen to those professionals, see the words organic on a product and buy it. I've done it multiple times. Always choosing the organic version paying $$$ more because it was "organic" The prices of some organic goods is just outrageous!!

AS a consumer I felt blindsided. One day when I went to buy some Medjool dates, same brand, one container was red and sold for $13, other container was green "organic" and sold for $16. Naturally, picking the green one as it had the words Organic.

It stopped me in my tracks! How can it be organic if it is in plastic dickhead!! Why are you paying $3 more for the same thing?

Organic

The definition of organic is natural matter or compounds with a carbon base, and also refers to food and meat grown or raised without chemicals or pesticides.

Yes the food may have been grown organically, but when that organic food is kept in plastic its no longer organic. Plastic emits its toxic fumes into food with any sort of heat. You dont know how that food has been transported, a truck in the sun heats up pretty quick, and so does the plastic packaging. Even if it claims to be BPA free it still emits a small amount of its toxicity into the food.

SO next time you are shopping, be conscious on what you are purchasing if you are wanting to reduce toxicity in your body. Visit farmers markets or organic farms like Benton Rise Farm that grow organic seasonal fruit and vegetables. If it's in plastic, think twice about purchasing it. If it is in a paper bag and glass, there is more of a chance that product is freer of chemicals and toxins.

Oh and here is another food for thought! (pardon the pun)

Majority of us drink filtered water to remove heavy metal, fluoride etc from ingestion right? Your skin is the biggest organ of the body, it absorbs everything that is put on it. When you have a shower, its counter intuitive, your body is absorbing those heavy metals, and chemicals in water through the skin. So maybe look at a filter for your shower.

It's not easy trying to do the right thing for your body. We are so trusting on what information is being fed to us. Even I get it wrong from time to time.

Be conscious and selective on what you are purchasing. Don't believe everything that is on the label.

Stay curious, stay educated. When in doubt.

Just eat real food.

Be your Own Brave.
